A great fishing event

This was a great fishing event with some 100 anglers gathered! Instructive presentation held by Dalien will be of benefit to younger anglers, and we all have to admit that he was well prepared for this event. A leisurely walk though the basics of modern pike spin fishing was continuing with a practical fishing part at the lake Ontario. Some good pike were caught, and later event was finished with a lunch. Thanks to sponsors Olivari d.o.o., Topfishing store, Savage Gear and Okuma all participants were rewarded whit a cap and Savage Gear lures. There was also a television crew filming this event for the state television HTV, so this will also be a great promotion of our hobby to general audience.

Bio je to odličan ribolovni event sa stotinjak okupljenik ribiča. Prezentacija modernog varaličarenja štuka bit će od koristi mlađim ribičima koji su se okupili u značajnom broju i moramo priznati da je Dalien bio dobro pripremljen za cijeli događaj. Laganu šetnju kroz teoriju nastavio je praktični dio na jezeru Ontario. Nekoliko lijepih štuka je ulovljeno, a kasnije je nastavljeno druženje uz ručak. Prezentaciju su potpomogli sponzori Olivari d.o.o., Topfishing trgovina ribolovnog pribora, Savage Gear i Okuma, pa su svi prisutni dobili i prigodne poklone poput kapa, varalica te čak i štapova ili podmetača. Cijeli događaj snimala je i ekipa HTV-a, pa će ovo biti zgodna promocija našeg hobija za širu publiku.

Modern pike lure fishing workshop in Zagreb

Danijel Vignjević aka "Hi my name is Dalien" will hold a presentation of modern pike lure fishing workshop this Saturday. This is a probably first workshop of this kind in Croatia, and a unique opportunity for anglers of all ages in learning about the basic techniques. Dalien is a freelance fishing journalist published in region and in Europe, and field tester for Savage Gear and Okuma brands. This is a guarantee that everyone can hear something new, and without doubt this will a great fishing event.

To je vjerojatno prva radionica te vrste u zemlji i jedinstvena prilika za varaličare svih životnih dobi da se upoznaju sa osnovinim tehnikama. Ne trebam spominjati da je Dalien autor mnogih varaličarskih članaka u ribolovnim magazinima u regiji i Europi, test ribolovac za Savage Gear i Okumu, te odličan natjecatelj. Sve to bi trebala biti garancija dobrog provoda, tijekom kojeg će svi okupljeni saznati nešto novo i razmjeniti iskustva stečena u ribolovu.

Kanji International squid jigs now in Croatia

Coast squid fishing in Istria

 From October these great squid jigs will be available for purchasing in Croatia. Olivari d.o.o. ensured that the Adriatic squid will have a richer menu this season. Kanji International is Japanese lure company, all materials are made in Japan, just final lure assembling is made in China. This time we are presenting their squid jigs line with 2 models that will be available in fishing shops. Price will be affordable compared to the competition (Yo-Zuri and Yamashita for example), and first test results from Adriatic are more than positive. Jigs were tested among Istria, in Primoje and in whole Dalmation region, and squids were fascinated. There are two models, basic Kanji Clicks and improved Clicks Pro-Spec, both made for coast squid fishing. Kanji Clicks are available in 4 sizes: 7, 10, 14 and 19 grams and from 7,3 to 11,5 cm long. Pro Spec models are made in two sizes: 11 and 15 grams; 8,5 cm and 10,4 cm. There are some differences  between models, in body shapes, in action, in shape of weight, and in a finish with more quality details on Pro Spec models.This squid season is really good here, so place a few Kanji squid jigs in your boxes and you won't be disappointed.

Od listopada skosavice koje proizvodi japanska tvrtka Kanji International moći će se kupovati i kod nas. Olivari d.o.o. proširio je ponudu skosavica na našem tržištu, pa će jadranske lignje ove sezone imati bogatiji jelovnik. Kanji International japasnka je tvrtka, koja nabavlja sve potrebne materijale na japanskom tržištu dok se samo sklapanje i pakiranje artikala odvija u njihovoj tvornici u Kini. Prvi rezultati testiranja su odlićni. Skosavice su testirane u Istri, Primorju i duž cijele Dalmacije i lignje su ih napadale sa oduševljenjem. U prodaji će se naći  2 modela, osnovni Kanji Clicks i nešto skuplji i napredniji Clicks Pro-Spec, a oba su  namjenjena za lignjolov sa obale. Kanji Clicks se proizvodi u 4 veličine: 7, 10, 14 i 19 grama, duljina od 7,3 do 11,5 cm ili po standardnim oznakama od 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 i 3.5. Skuplji Clicks Pro-Spec se proizvodi u dvije veličine 2.5 i 3.0 deep, ili u gramima od 11 i 15 g (8,5 i 10,4 cm). Modeli se razlikuju po obliku tijela, olovnog otežanja i krunice, te po finišu i detaljima na tkanini kojom je skosavica presvučena. Kako je ova sezona liganja već sada odlićna, nema razloga da se u vašoj kutiji ne nađe pokoji Kanji model, koji vas sigurno neće razočarati.

Catch of the day

Two days of raining and a drastic drop in temperature turned bass fishing into a hard mission. They were not at the same places like few days ago, and those we saw were not interested in our lures. Finally Savage Gear Prey 95 proved that it is not good just for sea bass, but works well with bass too, and save our day. Finally I saw a smile on the face of my friend Miro.

I share this photos  to illustrate my delight in this beautiful hand made lures.

They are so realistic, so alive, and have ability

 to walk trough the weed and grass at the most inaccessible parts of lakes.

 I have no doubt they will make our fish like pike,

 bass or chub to attack them at the surface of the water. 

The name of manufacturer is Lures Factory, from Thailand,

 and for now I have no idea how to buy this lures in Europe,

 but as soon as I find out, I will share this info with you.

A big catfish story

Here is a story (on Croatian) about  Igor's biggest catfish. The catch is made from canoe on river Sava, and fish is released back to the water. By the way Igor produces lures that has made countless catch. There are few photos of his handwork at the end of the post.

Igor Vukelić nam donosi kratku priču o svom najvećem ulovu ...

U sumrak smo počeli loviti na zavoju rijeke Save usidreni iznad 4-5 metara dubine. Lijevo uz obalu je bila plaža sa povratnim tokom, voda je lagano „kuhala“ a čisto pješčano dno je postupno padalo u dubinu prema nama. Nije bilo rezultata pa dižem sidro i lovimo u pokretu. U jednom trenutku moj prijatelj Grga zateže, ali nije siguran ima li ribu jer bez otpora privlači težinu prema sebi a i kanu klizi nizvodno. Baš kada je prokomentirao da bi to mogla biti i trava ili plastična vrećica shvaćamo da ima ribu i to veliku! Prvo je krenula metar dva desno a zatim strelovito lijevo prema obali. Svinuti štap se gotovo izravnao prema površini vode, kočnica je zujala ali dva kratka, oštra udarca su bila prejaka za pribor koji je koristio. Udarivši repom po špagi som je nestao u dubini sa Stormovim Wigglewartom. 

Bacio sam odmah sidro jer smo očito na dobrom mjestu. Umjesto silikona koji sam bacao stavljem vobler te u prvom zabačaju kada je vobler ponirao prema dnu imam udarac, a riba ponovno juriša prema nama, u struju. Za tren se stvorila ispod čamca i počela nas okretati u silovitim drilovima. Dao sam Grgi štap kako bih digao sidro i u tom trenu som kreće uzvodno svom silom. Koja snaga! Veličanstveno! Zbog sigurnosti smo odlučili završiti borbu sa obale. Njena blizina mi je ulijevala samopouzdanje i snagu jer me ruka počela boljeti a i bojao sam se hoće li udice izdržati. Od svog pribora, baš na tom vobleru jedna trokuka nije bila baš dobra, dok je druga bila za morski ribolov, primjerenija velikom somu. Tada je som legnuo na kameno dno i točno sam osjetio kako špaga zapinje za kamen. Spustio sam vrh štapa prema vodi dajući mu prostora sa se sam oslobodi što je i napravio. Još nekoliko minuta je prošlo prije nego smo ga prvi puta vidjeli na površini. Jako izmoren, nije se otimao kada ga je Grga prihvatio rukavicom i izdigao iz vode. Slavlje je moglo početi! Najveća riba koju sam ulovio i to na onu jaču trokuku jeftinog kineskog voblera kojeg sam rastavio i montirao novi kljun, otežanje i žicu. Veličanstveno!

Igor sam izdrađuje voblere na koje lovi ribe, ovo su tek neki od njegovih modela.

MegaFrox - Prodigy Buzzbait is 11 cm long, 27 grams heavy buzzbait, perfect tool for long casting and for many fish species. It produces very fine and loud clanking sound  when retrieved at a constant or high speed, and leaves bubble trail behind it.  I prefer to catch pike with buzzbait, and not always on the surface. I let it go bellow the surface, and than start to retrieve and make pauses. Monster pike long 107 cm caught two times in 3 days

This is a story about one monster pike 107 cm long, caught 2 times in 3 days. First time by friend Zlatko Ranogajec 3 days ago (on a big Monarch Dok Jerk lure). Yesterday I had luck to fight the monster fish again. This time pike took Duo Realis Jerkbait 120 SP in a gold color. The rest of equipment: rod - Okuma Dead Eye Walley 7'6", 6-12 lbs, line -  Power Pro 20lb, and Shimano Aero 3000 reel. Duo Realis Jerkbait 120SP is a great lure for pike. I like to lead it with a lot of twitch and pause action. The big momma inhaled it deeply just in a pause time. After few seconds I  knew that I had a big pike on the end of my line, and now my personal best pike record  is improved for 2 cm. By the way there is a photo of one smaller pike caught by Igor. All fish are still swimming in the lake, so we hope to see em again with some more centimeters ;) Thanks to Zlatko for the information that pike are active these days, and to Igor for photos with a monster fish ;)

Cannibal lure is proven on many pike, zander, bass and other fish, and now can be found in more colors. Sizes 8 mm, 10 mm, and 12,5 mm with different jig heads will cover many situation on the water, and I'm sure this lure will be even more popular. New Sandeel models are 100% saltwater lures, but can be used in sweet-water too. These are imitations of sandeel, favorite food of many sea predators like seabass, cod, pollock or halibut.
