In last two days / or rainbow trout from channel near Prelog

In last two days I was fishing on the channel near Prelog - Medimurje, and once again in Gorski Kotar. Channel in Prelog is known for rainbow trout, and it was full of this beautiful and strong fish till this year. This winter an flight of great cormorants landed to this channel and totally devastated and killed a lot of fish. Luckily some of trout survive this catastrophe, and you can try to catch them but quantity of them is not like before. We saw even few really big trouts but I couldn't catch them. I had one that broke my line, but Crni caught a few really beautiful bows.



Problem of great cormorant is really big here in Croatia. A number of this birds is big, and they are protected by the law. The damage they are doing to the fish population in lakes and rivers is unbelievable. This should be stooped somehow but authorities doesn't show enough will to do something. We can expect similar devastation of all kinds of fish in future, and this is very bad because many waters in Croatia are already empty, and those who are not, are on the target of this horrible birds.



Last two photos are from second day fishing in Gorski Kotar... Just because I like them :) Just to say that I saw one big brown in river Kupa. She took my jig for a second and I didn't have enough luck, but I will be back there...

An video of my old band Paruzija

Music was always part of me, like fishing and drawing. I remember my fist concert at 15th of March 1989. with my fist band Garage Monsters. Later at the end of 90' I was playing guitar in post hard core punk band Paruzija, and this video has been broadcasted many times on Croatian national television HTV. Those who remember music chart of TV show Hit Depo was able to see this video during 10 weeks of summer 98'... Today we finally got this video in good quality so now it can be seen on Youtube ... and here on my blog too :)

PARUZIJA - Bend je nastao 1997. nakon raspada zagrebacke grupe Garage Monsters. Gitarskom dijelu Garage Monstersa pridruzio se bubnjar Pavle iz grupe Razlog Za, te pjevac Boris koji je do tada pjevao u bendu Porota. Period najaktivnijeg koncertnog i izdavackog djelovanja trajao je do 2001. godine. U tom periodu izdan je ep Paruzija (1997), bend je sudjelovao na kompilacijskom albumu Tribute To Our Parents (1998) sa jos 3 prijateljska benda, a zadnje izdanje - samostalni CD 999 Zlo i naopako objavljen je 2001. godine. Snimljeni spot sa pjesmu Malo dobrih ljudi tijekom ljeta 98' vrtio se 10 tjedana na HTV-ovom Hit Depo-u. Nazalost pocetkom novog milenija zivotne i radne obaveze ometaju vecu aktivnost Paruzije, iako se clanovi tog benda i dalje aktivno bave glazbom.

Naš dragi prijatelj, ribič i fotograf ima samostalnu izložbu fotografija pa je red da ga podržimo, posebno jer je uložio puno vremena i truda u ovaj humanitarni projekt. Nadam se da se mi ribiči u ponedjeljak vidimo na izložbi u što večem broju...

21.06.2010, 19:30h u sklopu kulturnog centra Dubrava ( Dubrava 51a ) otvorenje je izložbe fotografija iz centra za obrazovanje Dubrava.

Cijeli projekt je humanitaran i cilj mu je osvještavanje i senzibiliziranje šire javnosti o ovom dijelu društva koji je često na margini istog, jer ponekada okrećemo glavu. Priča prati svakodnevnicu, tugu i radost pojedinaca u običnim stvarima sa kojima se i mi susrećemo.

Decent wels cat fish and monster mosquitoes

Our friend No Name called us before 2,5 hours with information that he have a decent cat fish on his line. So Dalien, Luka and I went to river Sava to see that fish and to take some photos. Like I said cat fish was decent, but the mosquitoes are real monsters there. If you look carefully you can even see monster blood suckers on a photo.

The lost fish

Another beautiful day on Kupica river. Beside all what we caught, the highlight of the day was fight with one big brown. Trout was long around 60 cm. Fish took dry fly in front of our eyes, and beat me in short fight. Even close to our net, brown run was unstoppable , and line was finally broken. Bad luck for me, but anyway it was really a great day!

Megabass Ito Vision for big asp

Another after-work short-time fishing on river Sava, and one big asp caught on Megabass Ito Vision 95 lure. Great lure for all kinds of fish! My new Prologic "Boner" rod paired with Okuma Raw reel seems to be great combination for this type of fishing. Asp, zander, barbel and chub are target fish on river Sava, and all of them can be handled very well with this gear. Casting of lures like Megabass Ito Vision is easy, and lure is flying far enough what can be important fact in asp fishing. Not only Ito is great lure for asp. My choice beside Ito are Rapala Original RT 11 cm, Prologic Savagear Prey 89, Yozuri Pins 9 cm, Yozuri Aile Magnet and some other...

I'm sorry that focus is missed on this photo. It was my mistake to leave manual focus option on lens attached to my Canon 40D, so I gave it to my fishing colleague to take photo of me and asp, but in a hurry to release fish as soon as possible, I didn't notice that lens is not focusing well . Never mind, fish is released back to river Sava, and is swimming together with another asp. Some of them are really big, up to 5-6 kg and 80 cm long. Sava downstream Zagreb is one of the hottest fishing spots in Croatia, and who knows how good it can bee with better conservation program... like real fishing Eldorado.

Good barbel on stationary Prey 69

The barbel predatory pattern is getting better every day as the minnow spawn approaches. They are strong swimmers in the fastest currents. The presentation of just holding prey 69 in place in the middle of the stream proved to be the most efficient. Prey 69 does excellent job of running true even in the wildest current. When fishing this way strikes are brutal and often trebles get bent on the strike or initial run of fish. Not the case with mean owner hooks. Prey 69 - great tool for this specific presentation!


... I will add that some other vobler patterns are great for this specific presentation ... just to name some: Rapala tail dancer 5 cm - 7 cm or countdown 5cm - 7 cm, or some of Ujka and Ružno Pače models are proven barbel hunters.

2 hours of fishing

Yesterday after work I spent two hours fishing on river Sava. I had one barbel and one asp, both gave great fight in strong current. Next time I will take fly rod with me, and try to fool some barbel the fly. We'll see. For sure if it take fly, it will be extreme fishing in this current, and I will need to have all the luck to get it out of the water.
